How it is possible that thing is 60 lbs? It doesn't look big enough to be 60 lbs.

Link says it's 20 lbs.

I find it amusing that it starts out "Single Asian carp..." like it's placing a personal ad.

My husband and his dad used to give carp to people at the lake they fished at. These people would see the carp laying on the ground near them and ask if they were going to keep them.

And, on a weirder note...Fish are designed to properly digest whatever they eat so umm...garbage in, garbage out, doesn't necessarily hold true. (I heard that from a marine biologist on the Colbert Report). I always said I wouldn't ate Tillapia because they're poop eaters.

Its still a subconscience thing when I am eating it. For some reason eating something that doesn't eat trash seems more pallitable to me. LOL Same reason I won't eat a buzzard.

I don't eat tillapia either. lol

Some in South-east Asia find this fish is delicious if you can get past the bones. Each of the bones branch out so you have a mess of bones. Locally we call it "Big Head Carp" as the head is huge.

But here in Singapore, it's quite a delicacy. We eat the head where there are lots of squishy bits once you steam it, then heat up some oil or lard until it's unreasonably hot, throw in some scallions to make the oil fragrant, then pour the oil over the steamed head.

Delicious! but not for the faint-hearted.

Ack. You should have put a parental advisory on this.

awww.. c'mon..

It's delicious!

There are many ways to cook this and one of the food courts in Chinatown here in Singapore have about a dozen stalls doing variations of this dish.

Again, not for the faint-hearted.

I'm sure it probably tastes good...especially if it's not recognizable and you're not told what what it is. But there's some terms I think I'd rather not hear in a recipe, such as 'squishy bits', 'lard' (personal aversion), and 'STEAMED HEAD'.

Is this one particular ugly for a carp then? Has anyone ever seen a carp that they found attractive and wanted to get jiggy with?
