as you probably know o lost my hubby last saturday, now my brother as popped up who has not spoke to me for 10 years, cant even remmeber why, now wants to see if his little sister is ok, now my hubby absolutely hated him, the way he tretaed my mom, , what would you do, and what kind of things do i put in his coffin i am spending 2 hours alone with him tuesday after noon,x

You put anything that you want in the coffin with him. If there's something that will give you even a small sliver of peace about saying good-bye to him, include it. When my grandfather passed, my grandmother put their first wedding rings in with him. That's about what YOU can do to say good-bye.

I am so sorry for your loss. All I can say would be to chat with him like you used to, maybe tell him waht you have organized for the day so you get to tell him what it will be about. I have never been in this position before so please ignore if waht I say comes across as a load of old crap!

As for the coffin, how about something personal like a lock of your hair so he will alwyas have something of you with him as he sleeps? a photoraph of you together?

Do talk to your brother. He may have changed.

Write your husband a letter, it can go with him. Say all the things you didnt get a chance to say.

I think Treebee has an excellent idea. A letter would be perfect, you can tell him all the things you were not able to and he'll have it with him forever.

Maybe a photo of the two of you or some of his favorite things.

As far as your brother goes, perhaps in the last 10 years that you have talked to him, he has changed and wants to be there for you. I hope so.

As for suggestions as to what to put in with your husband in my opinion Treebee's comment is the best one out there. It's just so personal and you can write whatever you want and know it will be kept between you and him forever.

Put a picture of the two of you together, in there with him. Perhaps of your son too. Put it in his hand.

Put whatever YOU want to remember him by in his coffin. The healing is all about you now. I'm sure your Husband wouldn't want you to suffer because of his passing just as much as you wouldn't want him to suffer over yours.
