my child is teething right now. he got diarhea once and ended up with a fullblown diaper rash. his bottom was red and raw to the point he wouldn't even take a bath! he's never really had problems with them before. I used A&D ointment on his butt, and it worked miracles! are there any other remedies that you've either used before or have heard about? im interested to know in case the ointment doesn't work when he gets another diaper rash.

Not sure if you have it in the states but I always swore by zinc and castor oil cream when my kid got nappy rash, nappy rash normally comes with teething....good luck with the rash, I know how awful it can be some days my kids butt bled the rash was so bad

his didn't bleed but it was almost there. I think Desitin is zinc oxide. I've tried that, but its hard to wipe off.

Not sure what the equivalent would be in America but Robin's Starch has always cleared my kids nappy rash within a day or two

Desitin makes a clear ointment that is better than the original. We have been using that and it works very well. We had mixed results with A&D, but when we switched to the Desitin clear it was much better.

I've tried that as well, had no effect. its basically the same as vaseline.

Bepenthan is another could one. To be honest with you, getting air on the bottom, time without a nappy is essential. Nappy rash can spread more when it is starved of fresh air. Also could it be something that your child ingests that makes the problem worse. Some food stuffs can be rather aggressive on the skin when they come out as poo and pee.

he's been eating the same stuff since 4 months of age. he sits with a diaper for about fifteen minutes everytime I change him, to let him air out lol.
