deoxidize car paint

There is a car that I want to buy. It's nice but the paint is 'oxidized' on one side. It sat in the sun for a few months. The gal who owns it says there's something that can bring the original shine back. Not sure if I want to buy on line. Would prefer something from a box store or car retailer. Is there such a thing to make my car all shiney again?
