dam removal

I see there is a current movement to remove dams in the USA. So there is a drought and many reservoirs are very low. Wet years could return soon and water management is needed. So what is, it have people lost there minds. We need these dams now more than ever.

Do we need "these dams"?

There is some information (evidence?) that many if not most of the damns in the USA didn't work and continue to not work and essentially hurt both the environment.

A better option might be to establish a pipeline from (for example) the Mississippi which captures the annual excess (and often flooding) and pump it to reservoirs around the country.
