the new scientist said yesterday. that if asian flu mutates into a form that spreads easily between between humans. an outbreak in just 40 people would be enough to cause a global pandemic. today the bbc reports that bird flu has confirmed cases in russia. does it pose a threat. i believe it does.

it is a threat. Look at what happened with SARS.

It started in Asia, next thing you know, it is in Toronto. People will carry it unawares and no one is safe. And you can't make a vaccine for it cause none has mutated yet. It is a threat, I hope it dosn't turn into a global pandemic

the biggest problem with the asian flu is that the vaccation doses for everybody wont be ready till 1997.which means it will be here and gone before the doses are ready.

Well yes it is a problem because like you say it only takes a small amount of people and it's going to be a huge world crisis which I hope does not happen because it will be devastating to say the least. You just have to look at the sars epidemic to realise what the hell might happen.

Heh I'm over the water from Liverpool I'm not worried about bird flu as quite frankly I'd survive it anyway without the vaccine
