i'm working on a group project for health, and tonight, each group member has to look for 3 diseases that we might want to write our research paper on. does anyone know any diseases that are not too common, but also have a good amount of information about it in books or online? thanks!!

I suffer from Enochlophobia, ok not a disease but it's interesting because it's a mix of agoraphobia and claustrophobia.

I wrote a paper on M.E (Multiple sclerosis) which is fairly uncommon.
It affects the nervous system and basically removes the myelin sheaths around the axons (the stuff that covers the nerves and insulates them.)
Very interesting disease to study, especially if you've an interest in the brain/CNS. Wiki. M.S

(I'm sure you'll be able to find loads of info. about it.)

Cool, my Human Bio professor wanted wanted me to do my report on it but I was already 3 weeks into my Scoliosis report.

He says there is a lot of stuff on it specially if you know someone who is older and has access to a college online database or some other college resources. I don't know how true that is but I'm sure there is plenty on it if he says there is.

Sickle Cell Disease - which is horrible.

SIDS - the infant babies that die and there is no real reason as why this happens.

Leprosy - I actually know quiet a few people that have this...they're slowly turning white.

Polio - not common anymore but was huge back in 80's and 90's before we got a vaccine for it. My grandfather had this...slowly paralyzed him.

Hipsteritis - forces the afflicted to compulsively hang out in malls, wearing tight jeans well below the waist with studded belts and ironic t-shirts of bands they don't even really like.
