Zinc Oxide (ZnO) Nanorods

They have a high surface-to-volume ratio, wich gives them enhanced optical and electrical properties.

They are used in photonics and sensing. Of course, everybody knows that.

The image was captured using the Zeiss Ultra Scanning Electron Microscope in Crann (the Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices) at Trinity College, Dublin

does america have enough of it, or do we need to invade someplace?

What's the purpose of this thread?

I'm trying to play along . . . but . . .

Now, actually I kinda forgot the part about nanorods being used for photonics and sensing.

Ai sensing!!

The purpose is just information I suppose.

Actually, I have no idea what they mean by photonics and sensing. Maybe I will find out.

must be that surface-to-volume ratio.
kinda like a powder burning vs a solid.

A fasinating look at potentially Pandora's box that can unleash new technologies and lead to new solutions to existing problems such as pollution. I hope universities and industry link up to build on this.

Okay then, it's not so criptic. Candles and lazers are photonic devices.
