To the OP: I'm sorry that guy upset you. What he said was very cruel and uncalled for. Sometimes you have to consider the source. There's something very wrong with a person who'd say something like that, but like the others have said, he might have just been having a bad day or joking. I don't appreciate that kind of humor. It's not funny to me at all.

I don't like hurting people, but I have a tendency to snap at 'em if I think they're being hateful to me and others. It doesn't matter to me who's right or wrong. I always feel guilty and try to apologize. It doesn't help with some people, but at least I feel better knowing that I told them I didn't mean to hurt them. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to just die and get it over with.

You are allowing rude people to rent space in your head. Convey indifference towards rudeness. If you let it be known that they "got to you" then they've succeeded in their mission.

I grew up with rude people. They are very trying at times.
Honestly, they used to drive me completely insane to the point where it seems they had manifested themselves in my head because I just couldn't get it or let it go because it bugged me so much. Like JR said... Getting me riled up was a game for a lot of people because I let them screw around with me.
I don't get bothered so much now, though, it depends on the type of rudeness. If you want to be an a** about me (say, the length of my hair or how much I weight) I couldn't really give a rat's ass. I've learned to let all that slide a long time ago.
But if I see someone who's going after someone about their sexuality or how poor they are, then yeah, I still get pissed off because I think there's a point where you cross the line of being rude because you're pissed off and taking it out on someone and being just an outright a*****e.
I've had my rude moments - depending on my mood sometimes I apologize to the person (usually a stranger, unfortantely) for being a smart ass. If I'm real upset, sometimes I just don't care until it's too late. I try not too, but it happens.
The sarcasm I completely understand, too. I'm an extremely sarcastic person (in "real life" - not so much here, I find) so I try to factor that in. Sometimes it fits, sometimes it doesn't.
Anyways, I've said so much I forgot where I was going, so I'm just shutting up. lol

1 word: Agreed. (or something along those line. Just say you agree with anything they said. Make sure to reply them saying I agreed. Do it every time to theirs ... eventually what they say will become funny and too cheap.. cheaper than the insult itself )
