I don't know if its just around where I live (I doubt that) but with the fuel prices the price of small cheap cars that a couple years ago nobody wanted to drive now have increased in value beyond belief. Many of the people I know are selling their trucks and SUV's and buying the little Cracker Jack boxes with a motor.
How high do you think gas prices will get?
Do you think gas will ever go back down?

high??
uhm i dunno but it's almost 5 all around here.

uhm honestly I don't see it coming back down significantly. maybe a few cents but People(oil) are going to profit from this regardless. They will get everyone so used to very expensive gas and then when they lower it to lets say $5. people will thinking wow gas is so cheap..
same as a few months ago .. gas was like 4 something and then it went down to 3.50 and people thought it was soo nice and cheap when not even a few months earlier gas was only 2.25. hell I remember Gas back when I first began driving being 98 cents per gallon. and eventually 99 cents. people made a fuss back then when it hit $1.00 and this was in the late 90's.

The gas is over $9/gallon, or ?1.2ish per litre. We pay 14.50 Swedish crowns for one litre right now.

We have a huge minivan, a Chevy Astro, it's being sold. It's too big and the fuel economy is non-existant

I have a Chevy Cavalier, 12-13 gallons cost me $58 to fill up. Right there and then almost had a freaking heart attack, last I filled up before that it was still about $45
I get about 10 days, worse case scenario 7 days; still, we are talking $180

Try paying around $100 for that one fill-up. You guys are too lucky and you refuse to realise it.

Double the gas price in America, see the CO2 emissions lower A LOT, for America are the carbon dioxide makers of the world, really.

chrill - I posted before I saw your post.

Yes, we are luckier, but the transit system here sucks!!! Some major places are better to commute to, but others are a nightmare. My mom doesn't drive and takes the bus, but on Saturday her bus doesn't run until later, so I have to get up at 5.30 am to give her a ride. That is just one example

That is of course a necessary replacement for the car. We have well functioning transit systems in Sweden. For instance, the Stockholm metro is the biggest in the world compared to how many lives within it's area of reach. It's crammed every day though, because everyone uses it. The commuter trains are crammed every day too, just like all the buses here. A bus pass here goes for $100 every single month but it gets you anywhere quite quickly. It's cheaper than a car!

I?m trying to put into prospective the difference between the UK and US on fuel prices.
Our money is obviously different then yours. Judging by a post from months back.(the guy that had his life savings eaten up at the bank by terminates.) It had his total loss in UK funds compared to US, I figured with info given it was like 40 US dollars to UK 1 dollar. Its been a while but I think that?s what I came up with. Anyways that doesn?t mean a lot unless I get what the wages v/s cast of living. So if I can take up some ones valuable time to help me out with this;

What is the UK?s minimum hourly wage? In the US it varies by state. I think starting at $6.55 by July of this year. Currently its $5.85 an hour.

How much do ya?all pay for say a loaf of store brand Bread. I can get it for $.69 at HEB

UK?s cast for a gallon of whole milk? Here between $3.85 to $4.50 depending on where you buy.

These are just a couple examples. But a couple of things that most people buy daily. I can?t really put in for the housing market cause that varies extremely just in my county let alone state and country. If I were to average with people I know and work with it would range from a $400.00 a month two bedroom apartment to $1,100 3 bedroom house.

I?m just trying to figure how gas prices are affecting ya?all compared to how they are affecting us. If gas prices reached 10 dollars a gallon here we would be straight up screwed.

Thats why I use public Transport. Britains isn't as good as on the continent or Australia, but it is quite good, and cheaper than driving.
