Irish politicians are in heated arguements lately over a proposal to send criminal youths into the army to improve their discipline.

I don't think it's going to be passed, but I support it wholeheartedly. Instead of over-crowded prisons, the youths can progress and do something honourful both for themselves and their country. It can channel their aggression positively.

I'm all for that...I hope other countries notice that and change their ways too... I think being in the army will hugely help them...

Great idea

look at this https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6167466.stm

more than likely juvinial deliquents without respect for themselves or others.

They need knocking into line. how does putting them in prison with other like minded people rehabilitate

the main reason for kids gettin like this in the first place is boredom and disrepect. in the forces you don't have time for boredom and respect is the first thing they drill into ya.

I think its a great idea, fecking liberal human rights bastards will put a stop to it no doubt.

if that is the case. im against it.

its just not fair or just, to punish minor crimes or antisocial behaver, with the possibility of death

I don't agree with it. You can't puch people into the army...in my opinion its just another form of conscription kinda.

its only IF they go to war...and well u face possible death crossing the road...and tbh the army is character building...says me the army brat. i was born and raised in a military family, i go to cadets, its hard work and u learn respect and to keep ur attitude in check...its a very good idea.

ok so if they go to war they might get killed, depends where and what theyre doing really.

Love the idea, and to be honest I'd rather have criminals die for me than honest citizens mean as it sounds.

you may face death crossing the street, but thats by the persons choice

to send someone who is just a petty common criminal, to the chance of death, is just plain wrong.

you wouldn't execute a common criminal, so why send him to a possibility of injury or death.

i actually think it depends if they're over 18, im sure if ur under 18 u cant go to the front line anyways...and over the age of 18 ur not really a teenage petty criminal
