Writing for Fun or Profit?

You can do both, but if you're writing for profit you're going to feel pressured to finish and your work might not be high quality. I would recommend writing for fun, and if it turns out to be something you're proud of...use it to turn a profit.

Everyone and their fat brother is a writer. I think the field is a bit over filled at this point, but I wouldn't let that stop you. Write, write as if you're going to have your keyboard whisked away at a moments notice.

Otherwise you're just a person, not a writer, and who wants to be just a person.

That's cool. I like writing because it lets me express myself and get my thoughts out on the screen. I like money too. I'm perfectly content writing for fun. But then I have to do something to make money besides. Right now my jobs don't have much potential for growth past a certain point, whereas writing has a near limitless income potential. You can make millions (possibly billions!) or you can make $0. It's apparent now, however, that I'm just dreaming.
