Personally I find most text type illegible, when I was teaching I also found it encroached on the students work, when I quizzed them about it they said they didnt realise they had written it as its just something they do naturally. IT DRIVES ME MAD!!!!!!!!!!! Am I alone in this or do other have a problem with it?

It makes me laugh that people on here, no names of course, type out their arguments, and yet they can't spell for toffees

I can't stand it, but very few of my friends use it. Infact thinking of people who regularly text me only two use it. One of those is my mum!

I read 1337 better than I read the phonetic s*** people use when they are writing using any form of keyboard.
Luckily they are laughed at if they write pieces for school like that, so society understands it's moronic.

Nope, because some of us actually are bugged by txt speak and refuse to use it for anything Except for the obvious acronyms such as lol, wtf, etc.

I won't use it, I have to look it up. As a former teacher I believe it's ruining the writing skills of too many.

Oh there are definitely kids that use it, and it's the most ridiculous things too... There was a girl in my English class who was marked off for writing "gurl", rather than "girl". She said, "Oh, I'm sorry, that's just how I'm used to writing it when I text."

Neither me or my teacher understood why the i must be changed to a u while texting, it's not changing the amount of characters or anything, just making her look kinda dumb.

I remember being asked why i type "like that" by some dim witted moron on MSN once.
When i replied with "you're the one who is altering the language, not me." I was told to "strt tlking nrml get a fkn lfe u lzer"
Or some random collection of letters that resemble that.

And when that happens I'm gonna become the old fart that complains about "kids these days". I need a cane to wave around at kids passing by my house, or maybe a walker to shake
