Why is my Internet running so slow?

So today, my internet has been running super slow. It's not the whole computer, because my Sims game was normal speed.

There's no virus or anything, I scanned my computer twice today, no threats or detections.

What should I do?

Turn the computer on and off again?

*Note: last night and this morning my computer did automatic updates. Could that be it? It's never gone slow before though.

**Note: It's been raining for the last 3 days and my Internet cut out once today and normally acts funny in bad weather, could the it be a factor?

is your net on cable?

Cable how? Like packages with my TV cable or connected to a cable?

yeah, is your telephone line an underground cable line or is it an old fashioned line from the top of your house to a pole?

Try switching your modem on and off again.

Oh. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's fine. If that were out, the digital cable for the TV wouldn't be working as well.

Ok the only reason i say so is because my phone line is an old fashioned one and every time it rained i got water in my box

Mine kept running slow, no virus's, I finally figured it out it's actually the modem, when it starts acting up I just cut the power for ten seconds and the replug and it works superfast.. me thinks me needs a new one!
