Why is modern equipment black?

So many products, from computers, monitors, keyboards, sound speakers, mice, PS2, PS3, PS4 are colored black. Is there a reason for this?

It doesn't fade, stain, and look dingy easly and it's a neutral color.

I have a Mac. It is silver-grey metal colored.

All my kitchen appliances are (more or less) the same silver-grey metal color.... it goes with my black granite counter tops.

My car is also the same silver-grey metal color... it matches my Mac...

My iPhone is black... but it is stupid and wants to be smashed onto the ground.

That chrome/silver/stainless/grey metal also generally doesn't fade, stain, or look dingy and goes well with black. (Or any other color really)

Black/silver is most if my appliances too. Except the food processor, and swear it is cussing every time tomato or chile gets near it. I should of bought black. Though I've been using it more for nuts lately.

Colored appliances are such statement pieces. They do run the risk of looking dated. Imagine every avocado green or yellow kitchen ever.

another reason why modern equirement are black get mad at the equirement and throw out of your home or apartment building's window. if black stick out on the lawn or alley. you see better in the daytime. if modern equirement is white, so so tacky. unless, you buy after labor day.

Cars are like that. Black, White, & metallic colors. Stand and look at a parking lot, it's ugly. Bring back color.

The only reason I can think of is money. Black sells better than any other color. Why? DiscordTiger gave some good reasons for that.
