Why is it almost every teen boy's "dream" to work on cars as a career?

Spose it depends on your figure.

Not really, they just had respect for themselves, and wanted a career

How many people will do glamour and never tell later, when they're 'respectable'? Dont judge babe, its not black and white like that for lots of people.

Doing a few glamour shots because you are desperate, and need to feed yourself/family is completely different to aspiring to be a pornstar.

And it will always come out if you have done those types of things, what with the internet etc.

Also, glamour models and porn actors aren't paid that much, not more than a higher profession, is pretty short term and hard to get into. So it's not so much 'quick easy money'.

Among us girls, it was usually Porn Star!

@_Samantha_ Said

lol. The Manchester Evening News did a survey of teen girls, and 66% said theyd rather be a porn star than any other profession.

If that's true then that's very depressing. You'd think they'd have their standards a bit higher really.

Funnily enough, the thought of a heap of hot chickies wanting to become porn stars doesn't bother me that much - I am thinking I might have to start a business of my own, training girls for the porn industry...

But, as to the topic, here in Aus, you get a few guys who want to be mechanics, but footballer and PE teacher are pretty common too.

I know one boy, who wants to study automobile repair. We don't have a car shop at our school, so next year he will go to another school. I know other boys who either already sell cars, or they intend to sell cars as a career. And I know a few who, like Lee Iacocca, want to be engineers, so they could maybe design cars or they might become the Chief Executive Officer.

My Uncle has a cousin, who is the family grease monkey. He worked for a long time as the foreman of diesel engine overhaul shop. Now he's the pastor of a Baptist Church. I don't know how that connects.

Maybe that has something to do with it. Some schools in America obviously have car shops, where students can learn to to that sort of thing before leaving school. Here, you would have to get an apprenticeship or something. Maybe it's easier there?

I have never known any teenage boy who wanted to work on cars for a living.

And, since the OP is getting all testy about UK people chiming in, I am American too.

Wow my dream was get away from my family. I dreamt of travelling by foot around Europe. No family, no hassles just me and my dog. But that may be because my heritage is gypsy and bushman.

Honestly, I'm a guy and I have no interest what-so-ever in cars. I don't anything about parts, types of cars, or...well anything now that I think of it. I didn't really even want to drive, but my parents forced it upon me. lol

I think being a mechanic just seems to jump out at you in school when you are good with your hands and don't see yourself with a cubical job. Once you're a car mechanic, you can pretty much fix anything right?

A lot of women I know like to talk about cars (not so much fixing them. lol)
