Where were you born?

I once told somebody I was born in Greenwich, and they said "You don't sound like you come from New York".

There really is no answer to that.

Town/City. I always find it odd when people say a certain hospital.

Why? Greenwich, NY is a real place too.

Also, the upper east part of America here is referred as "New England," and there are a lot of people that say New England... I was confused at first, because I didn't' know that, i thought they were talking about the country and found out I was wrong.

It happens.

Very true, it does happen. But it somewhat bemused me that somebody with a distinctly English accent, discussing such a thing with another English person, in an English pub should be mistaken in such a way, when the Greenwich of my birth has existed under that name for some six hundred years longer than the NY version, and is a very prominent part of the culture of our capital city.

Call me parochial if you will, but I kinda figure it's not unreasonable to presume my own countrymen might have some idea of the geography of their own capital city.

I guess this is a big thing for Jennifer.

Most of the time, I just name the city, but if someone is from there, I add the name of the hospital.

I voted for town/city.

when i was born, at the time, i was a baby, i couldn't read the hospital's name, and i didn't where i was was too shy to ask !

I tell them the hospital AND the city/town.

I say what town.
