Although personally i do not agree tax cut now, but I think it is a must to cut tax in the future. Lets discuss what tax should cut first or even cancle.

Welcome back! Where have you been hiding for so long?

All taxes serve to feed the insatiable appetite for funding, whether on a local, state, or national level. You're right, one should not immediately cut taxes, but first take care of that 'appetite.'

In order to reduce the 'need' for funding, the size of government must first be reduced, and the socialistic entitlement programs either curtailed or discontinued. Austerity should become the buzzword, an non-practitioners should be fired. The size reduction of the government will bring about a surplus of tax revenue -- in a healthy economy. In a not-so-healthy economy, the surplus of tax revenue should expectedly be less, but, never-the-less, still a surplus. The amount of the surplus will permit calculations to be made as to how much the exisiting taxes might be cut. Now, you will be able to contemplate the answer to your question -- which taxes should be cut or eliminated?

I would be in favor of eliminating the so-called income tax, and replacing it with a general, or flat, sales tax on consumption of all products other than food and clothing.

Welcome back. I see your hating on Republicans thread didn't work out. But, the landslide victory this week was really FOR America. We reject socialism outright because we love America. You'll see that some day.

To answer your question, I think the tax on the rich should be cut, big time. It's horrendous to punish and penalize those who have actually achieved monetary wealth, those who have worked hard. Over-taxing the wealthy discourages people from succeeding and takes all motivation to do so away.

This bull crap about "spread the wealth" comes straight from a communist vision - which America was NOT founded on. Those who work hard are forced to pay for the slugs on society who want to hang on their porches waiting for their entitlement checks? WRONG! Wrong for everyone, wrong for America.

Welcome back. We are here to educate you on the ways of freedom and the true American vision. Good to see ya!

So, you stand for encouraging poverty, degradation and squalor then?

No, I stand for accountability and responsibility -- people taking care of themselves, making something of themselves and not sponging off the government. NO WELFARE ABUSE.

Before we had a welfare state in Britain, often severe poverty was commonplace. There are never enough jobs and opportunities to have a little 'toytown' society like you describe.

Eliminate inheritance tax and capital gains tax.

Why should anyone be liable to a tax just because they have been fortunate enough to inherit? Or why should anyone be liable to a tax because they have been bright enough to sell something for more than they paid for it?

Yeah - I don't see why people shouldn't be able to pass on what they like to their kids or whatever. After all, most of people's stuff has come out of income that's already been taxed once anyway.

Taxes on food, power and water...the essentials of life

We (and a few other states) already have tax free food. (except prepared stuff in restaurants.) All they did was raise the taxes on non food items. Didn't really save much $ unless all you could really afford was food.
Which I guess does help the really really poor.

Don't know about the power and water for sure, while it does sounds nice, I thought some of that went to make it so that the disabled don't get their utilities cut, in the event they have difficulty paying.

I agree with you on principle though, to reduce as much tax on food and necessities as possible, but frankly I think getting spending under control or reduced is far more important.

Like the family needing more income, they get a second job or keep the one they have, and spend less to make ends meet. You don't willingly take a cut in hours and hope things work out. It's foolish.
I see cutting taxes, without reducing spending as doing that.

So as much as I agree, I don't want to pay tax on my alcohol, I see it as a necessary evil. And would much rather have the services the gov't provides like emergency, roads, defense, social security, medicare etc. Cutting spending and pork would be a better solution. But I honestly don't have a lot of confidence that will happen anytime soon.
