I've always wondered about the future of humanism in relation to the rest of the world. The majority of people in the world are still religious in some measure, today. Atheism and other humanist groups are still in the minority. In the Ancient World, atheism didn't even exist. Today Western Philosophy seems to be on the back-burner of a highly spiritual rising generation. What are your feelings? Will humanism play a significant role in shaping the minds of the future or will the current spiritual re-awakening led by New Age doctrine revolutionize man-kind's future for good.

I think that people are more and more, wanting to believe in their own thing. This whole organized religion mess is not the way of the future. There are too many "issues" with most that people would rather not deal with. It is easier to just believe what you want.

Thats the New Age Movement in a nutshell. This is definitely were things are at. I was wondering how atheists and other humanists groups are feeling about this.

as an atheist, what others believe does not matter to me. as long as we all don't push our beliefs on others, then i am happy

do you feel that any existing cause or group specifically is challenging your rights to believe what you want to believe?

what is the real difference except the addition of god?

christians mostly, but that is prob only because they are the major religion in my area. i have had people come to the door and tell me i should join their church so i can be saved. (does not happen often, but is not once enough?)

Are you saying every belief system is actually the same?

Are you tolerant of other beliefs?

Do you view an existing cause or group as a threat to the way you believe?

If so, what is that existing cause or group?

that is the problem when you need to save others.
adding god just made it hard for folks to see the roots of humanism in their god trees

Do you realize that Christianity is the major religion across the world?

So are you saying that Christianity in general represents a threat to your belief system?
