The title says it all. I just wandered if there was a difference or its just two words to describe the same thing just to confuse people.

not all laptops play games very well . . . .mine is a good example.

I'm sure they're the same thing, just some people say notebook instead of laptop. I've never understood why.

Like when Americans say cigarettes, and we confuse them by saying fags.

a note book and laptop are the same with added difference - is the power and performance of the product but realistically they are the same.
Ultimately a desktop is better due to sheer performance such as speed and has a longer life span, you can upgrade etc.
The new apple notebooks are very interesting though as they are truely ultra slim and worth taking a look at on the apple website - if you buy a laptop or notebook, what ever you want to call it - just make sure it has plenty of mb ram and good processor and pref to have a added video card and not on board video card. Especially when your into gaming

I just want something to surf the net on and nothing else cos I would use pc. I want the freedown of the laptop not to be stuck in one place when I need to quickly do net stuff. Any good tips?

get the best you can, within your budget.

i generally find notebooks to be smaller and more mobile than laptops, but have less features than a laptop.

acer/dell/possible mac newer but they costs more on everything/sony - check out the sites and then choose - its all personal preferences on choosing a device of this type - look in some product knowlege by googling it to see reviews by both it forums and magazines that way you can know what your buying

There are so many good priced laptops out there, you should have no problems getting one to fit your needs I would check out PC world's website and have a browse at what they have instore. Even better, go into a store and try one out.

I also recommend Gateway I have a Gateway laptop. It used to be my sister's and after 3 years, it's still running like a dream. Mine's 15inch screen and not too heavy, but I'm sure they do smaller ones.

why do they have to confuse people by calling it a notebook? last I checked there was already something called a notebook, which is basically a bunch of sheets of paper held together by a binder. granted, this thing is almost absolete now, it still exists.
