I've participated in quite a few threads about what I'm reading and what my favourite books are, all of which have been interesting and varied. So I'm just wondering what books mean to you. Do you do what I do, which is have several books on the go at once? Or do you read one at a time? Can you not imagine life without books? Do you have books secreted in various nooks and crannies in your house so that, wherever you are, you can pick one up and get lost in it whilst doing other stuff, like stirring the soup or hoovering? Or do you think books are a complete and utter waste of time?

If I do read books, it is one at a time...can I imagine myself without books? At the moment I probably could, but as I get older, probably turn towards them again

I always have a book going, but just one at a time, It follows me around the house. But I do read most of the time in the bath tub or in bed at night. I like a book that grabs me from the start if it doesnt I get in my stash and get another one to start!!

I panic if I forget to take one out of the house with me. So I'm a hopeless case.

I tend to stick to magazines, mainly technical ones

I read multiple books at one time. I also write. I could imagine a world without books, but it isn't pretty.

You're like me, in that respect. I've got more books than I'll ever be able to read, but I need to have them around the house and can't pass up the chance of buying them when I find them being sold cheaply.

It has to grab me or else I lose patience and start something else. I can be a little more disciplined if I know that perseverance will pay off but, as I said somewhere else the other day, so many books and so little time.

Is there such a thing as a TFS reading group? If not, does anybody want to start one? Nothing heavygoing, just suggestions for a book or two to read and see what we think of them.

My reading habits have declined with my advancing age, formerly I read every day for two or three hours.(non fiction books primarily) Now I hardly read at all,in spite of the fact that I have many unread books in my library!

I couldn't go a day without some contact with a book (perhaps I should just wear them instead of clothes)
