What comes to mind as you think of the United States?

Just curious about how people from other countries think about of the United States...

Such as whenever i think of the United Kingdom, i think of Buckingham Palace, those guards with the big hats, and Benny Hill.
Whenever i think of Australia, i think of kangaroos, desert, and the Sydney Auditorium...

US for me back in the days:

Indians & Cowboys,
Eagle,
Land of Free (Now don't start with all the political freedom stuffs, it is free to the extent of the absence of iron fist military regimes)
Classic muscle cars
Democracy (Not in Democratic or Republic sense)
California
Guns
"Action movie stuffs"

The Empire State Building, Wall Street and the Statue of Liberty.

No not really but thinking Buckingham Palace and 'those guards with the big hats' is about 2 sq miles of it. Kinda winds me up a little when I tell some Americans I'm from the UK and they respond with "Oh yeah? I was in London in so-or-so year." Buckingham Palace probably makes up less than 1% of the UK, there is much more to see and experience.

The red white and blue, the land of the free and the brave, the american bald eagle. A free ride for many on uncle sams coat tails.

New York, The White House, Seattle, Hollywood, The Deep South...quite a strange mix don't you think?

When I was younger, and first learning of the atrocities that the native people, my ancestors, went thru... I wrote a poem called "Pledge Allegiance, My Ass." I guess it was part of the chip on my teenage shoulder.

The American dream, and how so many countries aspire to reach it but never even get close to reaching it

Fast food, big roads and cool theme parks.

I really don't think a Harry Potter theme park makes sense in Orlando Florida...i'm thinking the country side in England moreso
