So it's finally here!! Welcome weekend at Lynn University. I am so happy. I was just issued another Lynn University Shirt as well as a brand new iPad Pro. I am more and more excited for this semester.

Congrats!
My son just started his 2nd year.

Do you get decent aid for having been in the military?

What are you looking to major in? (sorry if you've mentioned before - I forget)

Thanks. I'm majoring in Psychology. Right now, things are looking up with aid. The GI Bill covered most of it and the rest was covered by a state grant and the Pell Grant. I thought I was going to transfer as a sophomore, but they reevaluated my credits. Looks like I may be going in as a Junior.

Since I will be here for at least 2 years, does anyone have any good ways to end self isolation. I am stuck in my introvert ways at the moment.

Are you living on campus?

Join a group or club of similar interests

Is there a club for former military members?

I'm a commuter. I'm debating on moving onto campus next semester. The only issue is my younger brother. He isn't in college yet and the way things are going he may have to go to a community college. Unless he is able to go to a University. I'm thinking about joining a club or maybe even a fraternity. It may help me stop being antisocial. Unfortunately, there isn't any clubs for Veterans. I was told I can start one if I can find members. So far I found one veteran.

Hi, I am halfway through college. Nothing wrong with community colleges I go to one and the end result is going to be the same as if I went to a bigger school. I am going for Nursing. I will graduate as an RN with an associates then go on to another school to get my bachelors. That will only take another year. The only reason I have to go to another college is because some of the classes I need for a bachelors aren't offered where I go currently. I like it though, it's small but the teachers are awesome and I get the same education. Your younger brother can go to a community college for a little while and keep his gpa good then qualify for scholarships that the community college will help him get if he meets the requirements. Ahhh weekend is almost over.

So far the first week of classes was pretty good. In my mind the most difficult classes will be Statistics and Geopolitical Affairs. The most interesting class I have is rhetoric and western philosophy.

You should be getting involved in university life, Pat. Join a club or group of some sort. University is the one place in the world where you should never be alone.

Perhaps it might help if you considered sharing accommodation with other students. It might be a pain to have a little less privacy, but my two house mates when I was at uni were wonderful. We had so many good times in the house we rented and shared. I'm still friends with them and we keep in touch 12 years after we graduated..!!

I was involved in several political campaigns. Gay Rights, The Feminist Movement and the Anti-Iraq / Afghan War Campaign. They kept me busy when I wasn't studying. (or was it the other way round..? lol)

And then there was sport. I ran in charity fun runs, played rugby, netball and even managed to find a game of lacrosse to play in once..!! Even when not playing in matches, training and socialising kept me well involved.

Apart from all this, somehow, somewhere along the line, I managed to get a damned good degree..!!

You were a Marine. You must be pretty fit. Why not play Gridiron for your college, or Baseball, or whatever takes your fancy?

And of course, it was at Uni that I met Amanda. You never know, you might meet a really cute girl. But that'll only happen if you get out there.

Don't be alone, my friend. Get out there and get involved. Being at Uni was the best of times for me. I'm sure it could be for you too.

Good luck.
