Our politicians are trying to rally public unity by telling us we are all in the same boat.... sharing the same experience during the pandemic.

This is just another one of their lies.

It is true that we are sailing through the same storm, but your ship could be shipwrecked and mine might not be. Or vice versa.

For some, quarantine is optimal. A moment of reflection, of re-connection, easy in flip flops, with a cocktail or coffee. For others, this is a desperate financial & family crisis.

For some that live alone they're facing endless loneliness. While for others it is peace, rest & time with their mother, father, sons & daughters.

Some are bringing in extra money with endless overtime, Others are working more hours for less money due to pay cuts or loss in sales. Others no longer have a job.

Some families of 4 will receive £5000 per month from the stimulus while other families of 4 will see £0 for the duration of it.

Some were concerned about getting a certain chocolate for Easter while others were concerned if there would be enough food to put in front of their family.

Some want to go back to work because they don't qualify for unemployment and are running out of money. Others want to kill those who break the quarantine and are seen outside.

Some are home spending between 2-5 hours a day helping their children with online schooling while others are spending 2-5 hours/day to educate their children on top of a 8-10 hour workday.

Some have experienced the near death of the virus, some have already lost someone from it and some are not sure if their loved ones are going to make it. Others don't believe this is a big deal.

Some have faith and expect miracles. Others say the worst is yet to come.

So we are not in the same boat. We are going through a time when our perceptions and needs may be completely different.

Each of us will emerge, in our own way, from this storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. And not just looking, but actually seeing.

We are all in different boats during this storm experiencing a very different journey so don't judge others by what's happening in yours, we are all just fighting our way through to calmer waters.

Good luck to you all and we'll see you in the calm

Edit: I hope that some people won't attempt to corrupt this thread with bogus arguments intended to push their own political propaganda / personality / agenda.

See it for what it really is and pause to think about how you feel, and how you respond to the feelings of others.

I get it. Some parts have been a nice change, others have been down right terrifying.

Some opportunities to grow, and some very scary consequences.

It’s not the same for everyone. Some of us are luckier than others through no effort of our own.

Thanks for pointing this out

NZ media (owned by USA) is having a blast showing all the rich kids at home making YouTube videos with little mention of those in poverty (almost seems like COVERT-19 was a conspiracy to cull the poor).

For many the disenfranchised and mentally ill are a very small number of poor misfortunate monsters whose problems you would never want to have to deal with so best not to look in their direction.

But if you didn't pick up on it back in Jr. Highschool those who have the financial position to voice and promote will only ever address what the popular kids are doing and how well they're doing and there is a grotesquely obvious effort to try and herd everyone in unison. I don't know anyone but myself who doesn't own or carry a mobile phone and feels that Facebook is merely a way to introduce your friends and family in one place to sociopaths.
