@4000earthquakes Said I don't know what other forum to put this in, so please forgive me.
When I watch the movie "Titanic" I can only think of one thing. How could people be so uneducated?
They could have taken the huge wooden tables that were on the ship, and used them for rafts.
They could have taken grease from the kitchen and put it all over their bodies to keep the water off of them, when they went into the water, to prevent hypothermia.
But they didn't know? Even the crew of the ship didn't know these tricks to keep the people from drowning or dying of the cold?
All I think of when I see that movie, is that they teach people things like history, language, etc. but they don't teach people survival skills.
In two paragraphs I have given people in that situation -- a way to survive, but they never taught me anything like this in school. I learned "music appreciation".
So I guess my point is, shouldn't they teach people survival skills in school, too? How to garden, can, jar, purify water, keep a room warm -- without electricity, etc? Especially since the economy is so bad. How can anyone survive without survival skills?
What do you think?
"AAAHH, the ship's sinking! Quick, let's queue up outide the kitchen for 2000 portions of grease! And let's use these tables as rafts instead of getting on the lifeboats."
Also, it's a popular misconception that grease keeps you warm in cold water. It doesn't, but it can protect you from jellyfish stings.
