Yeah, thankfully it was the right decision, even had we lost the war, though all the odds were stacked against us, until 1941

Yup, it didn't hurt when the U.S. joined in, that's
a given. I'm not as big on history as I should be though.

It was something we as a world just "had" to do, to wipe out this vile government. It's a known thing, that Hitler envisaged a world order in alliance with Britain (Remember, that was a bit part of the world too at the time - a lot of the world was part of Britain - the European empires). Britain could then have possibly kept a peace, by doing the deal.........but didn't.

Strange though, it's often said Britain entered the war because of a guarantee to Poland should that country be invaded. Well, it wasn't just the nazis who invaded Poland - the Soviets in a deal, invaded eastern Poland, and unlike Germany at the end of the war - the Soviets kept their ill gotten gains.
This was possibly simply because the powers needed the Soviets to win the war, after Hitler turned on his former ally, and at the end of the war, didn't have the will or the capabilites to force out the communists who imposed dictatorship on much of Europe.
For many countries, WW2 only ended in 1990, when they finally gained their freedom

I think that's EXACTLY why the United Kingdom didn't declare war on the Soviet Union. After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and there's no better evidence of that than the alliances of WWII.
