That's a very good point. That and having a huge gathering of armed protesters in the state capital seems like a recipe for disaster. So who's idea was it? Is this intentional sabotage from their own leadership?

Waco wasn't about racism but the press tried to paint the Davidians out to be racist.

Hmmmm.... I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the democratic party isn't doing it.

Maybe white supremacy groups... maybe the NRA in and effort to increase firearms and ammunitions sales.... maybe the Republican party to further divide the USA... Maybe far right Trump supporters....

I’ve heard a lot of things about branch davidians and usually have a pretty decent awareness of a lot of race issues.
I don’t remember the Waco incident ever being associated with racism. I mean there was a lot ducked up in both side of the situation, but I didn’t think race played a huge role.

The Davidians weren't racist, there where several black members. Initially the press reported they where White Seperatist, the catch phrase they used to label seperatists to make it sound as close to White Supremacist as possible. They used the same term with Randy Weaver and his family. The truth is the Davidians weren't seperatists anyway. After the fire one of the survivors turned out to be Livingstone Fagan ; a little embarrassing for the press one would think.

BS.

The Branch Davidians were "the apocalypse is coming soon" nut bags.

They were essentially separatists from what we call the USA.

You seem to idolize them... odd that... why don't you also idolize Muslim "the apocalypse is coming soon" nut bags?

Helpful definition: "separatist" a person who supports the separation of a particular group of people from a larger body on the basis of ethnicity, religion, or gender.

Exactly what the Branch Davidians were.

Note: Words have meanings.

I don't idolize them, I just see them for what they were, an offshoot of the 7th Day Adventist Church, vegetarians and Americans practicing their Freedom of Religion. Why the ATF, FBI or whoever wanted to create that big fiasco of a shootout and murder a bunch of children is the question I ask myself. Then I start researching.

Separatists by definition.

"Wanted" is the operative word in this sentence of yours.

They didn't "want" to f__k up... they completely miscalculated the situation... they made a mistake... a pretty massive mistake... a mistake that resulted in the death of people on both "sides"... but a mistake none the less.

The ATF had been told by Vernon Howell they could come and investigate their property in Waco anytime they liked. Howell had also extended this courtesy to the Child Protective Services in Waco, who did come and check on the welfare of the children living there.
The ATF however decided to raid the place based on a dubious claim of the operation of a meth lab. 7th Day Adventists are extremely focused on what they put in their bodies. The War On Drugs, a national emergency declaration by then president George Bush Sr, would give the ATF the ability to conduct a raid with little or no evidence. The place was burned to the ground and everything left was hauled away by the FBI, even the front door.

The ATF didn't want to "come and investigate their property".

The ATF wanted to arrest David Koresh and seize illegal guns... and yes, a possible meth lab. But remember: ATF... alcohol tobacco and FIREARMS.

Also remember that it was the Repuliban/Conservatives after the guns >>> not the evil liberal Democrats.

That's correct. They didn't find any illegal firearms either. During the congressional hearings the FBI produced a total of one weapon they say the took from the Waco compound; a suspiciously unburned, shiny AK-47.

Again I would encourage you to read my posts instead of letting Chaski put words in my mouth. The guy has deleted posts of mine and tried to change the meaning of the things I type on several occasions. His main strategy consists of purposefully misinterpreting my post and then carrying on arguing about this misinterpretation while I've moved on in the subject of the thread. Using super large posts and basically lying repeatedly to "talk" over me ala Michael Savage. It's pathetic.

My point wasn't whether or not these guys are guilty of a crime. I speculated they may or may not be guilty of a crime. How would we know at the time of the announcement?
My point was about the law itself. Laws enabling law enforcement free reign to arrest people without judicial oversight enables abuse of power. They may arrest 100 people who are guilty of a crime and in the middle of all that label a political activist guilty of the same crime to make them disappear. This goes against the founding principles of our country.
As an example I cited the events of Waco TX where a Federal Law enforcement raid resulted in the unnecessary loss of innocent lives to arrest a few people for charges that were never verified as being true. The enabling law was the declaration of "The War on Drugs" (a national emergency) that allowed such unwarranted action.
