“Over 70 former Republican national security officials including ex-CIA and FBI chiefs will endorse Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Friday while launching a scathing indictment of President Donald Trump, calling him corrupt and unfit to serve.

The group, called Former Republican National Security Officials for Biden, includes some of the most senior Republican members of the U.S. defense and intelligence establishment to have served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Trump.

The 73-strong group includes retired General Michael Hayden, who served as national security director and head of the CIA; William Webster, the only man to serve as both head of the CIA and FBI; John Negroponte, the first director of National Intelligence; Michael Leiter, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center; and Mike Donley, former Air Force secretary.“

I have a hard time understanding how people can still play sides. I mean have people been paying attention to Washington at all the past few months? Neither Republicans nor Democrats give a flying picklefart about any of us. All this crap going on right now is about the most precarious situation that the us has gone through my whole life, and what have the dems and pubs been doing about it? oh yeah. refusing to compromise, refusing to get anything done, refusing to even talk to each other lol. that's one of those lols thats really ripping your hair out and crying. Now im not a Trump fan but he did at least provide eviction protection, you know while the senate took a gosh darned vacation. ANOTHER GODDAMNED VACATION. AND PEOPLE are still concerned over Biden V Trump, Dem v Pub. As if Jo Jorgensen or Howie Hawkins don't even exist. This Pandemic and the economic fallout has shown me that our country blows. And Im seriously eyebanging the s*** out of Canada right now.

Because there is a huge difference between Trump and virtually every other president we have ever had.

And the two parties that we have, have completely different views on how the country should be run and what direction is should be going... etc.

Are the politicians selfish and self centered? Yes.

Are both parties overly influenced by particular groups? Yes.

Should we have more than two political parties? Yes... BUT WE DON'T.

None the less, the two parties have completely different agendas.

So how can people still play sides? Because there are essentially two sides. The Republicans, as one example, spent the entire 8 years of of the Obama Administration saying that they would not compromise on anything. The leaders of the Republican partly literally said that they wouldn't even use the word "compromise".

So we have a two sided system.

Your choices are:
> Republican
> Democrat
> One of the lesser political parties that have no chance of getting anything done,
> or don't pick a side, i.e. do nothing (which means other people are going to decide for you).

In life, you have to make decisions. Often it is a two sided choice.

In the present context you have two sides:

1. For Trump
2. Against Trump

It's just the way it is... life.

Because it is a two sided system....

1. Republicans

2. Democrats

AND there are four choices.

1. Republican

2. Democrat

3. One of the lesser political parties that really are not part of the system (at least not from a pragmatic perspective)

4. Don't pick a side

And you also explicitly state that we should have more then two parties but we dont, and go on to mention the "lesser parties".

You're definitely stuck in the old two party mindset Chaski, something i think the whole country needs to abandon.

Yes I did and am correct.

Yes, there are lesser parties.

HOWEVER, they have essentially no political influence and no political voice in Congress, the Presidency or even the Supreme Court... not any state government.

Thus it is, for all practical purposes, a TWO PARTY SYSTEM.

Why would you say that?

I am only stating the facts, not saying that I like it. In fact, I indicated that I do not like it.

AND in another thread I also expressed disappointment at Bernie, who I believe could and should have started a 3rd party.

But he did not.

Not my choice... not my liking...

I am not stuck... I am ready to support a viable 3rd party.

so ok, if everyone has this mindset, and no one is ready to actually support a party before it becomes viable, how will it ever become viable? How is your thinking not exactly what dems and pubs rely on to keep it dems and pubs?

How is that not a two party mindset. "I would but..."

basically anytime you vote for someone just so someone else doesnt win you betray yourself.

You actually have to push for significant change, it doesn't just happen on it's own. By following the status quo this country is now on the brink of ruin.

Voting for a non-viable third party is wasting your vote.

It isn't a "protest vote", because no one... literally NO ONE cares.

It is essentially telling everyone else that they get to make the decision for you who gets elected.

Now that is a waste.

Who ever said that I vote "for someone just so someone else doesn't win"?

Voting for the president is, or should be, more than voting for a person.

In fact, people should vote for the political platform that is closest to what they believe... NOT a person.

Voting for the person blindly with no regard to the political position is stupidity.

I mean in the way that people said votiong for gary johnson was the same thing as voting for donald trump in 2016, i didnt ever say you did say that, it was just to reinforce the anti two party mindset.
