They charged my account $59.95, and then refunded it one week later. I checked online, and this same thing has happened to several other people, the original charge is always reversed, but wtf? Are they testing my account so they can go on a shopping spree later or something? This isn't coming from match.com, I've never used that site at all, much less signed up for anything on it.

Anyone know anything about this? Do I have a keylogger on my computer? All the other charges on that card are all auto charges that I've had set up for months, with only 2 exceptions, at borders a couple weeks ago, and at Ross about 3 months ago.

Talk to your bank. You'll have to get this sorted. If you really haven't given your account details to these people then something's gone wrong somewhere.

Do you have a debit card attached to this account?

I'd cancel the card pronto.

Is there any way to tell whether the charge was to the bank account or via the debit card? In either case, I'd call the bank and report the fraud to them immediately.

no wait, it's my business credit card number. Either way, those charges shouldn't be there at all. I probably have a keylogger...crap. Such a hassle.

the bank should have a 24 hour fraud line ring that to report the transaction if you haven't already.

Also do you only ever access your accounts etc where you would type in the account number from one computer?

I doubt if you have a keylogger. Wouldn't hurt to do some scans and so forth, but the card # was probably found by means other than a card number. Someone hacked an online database or some 17 year old kid at the Office Depot register was able to memorize the number or something like that.

I pretty much only use that number online, but I usually just use paypal, so It's pretty rare lately that I'd actually type out the credit card number, I've had paypal set up for quite a while. I'm trying to think if I bought anything with that card without paypal recently...

Either way you have to talk to your bank and maybe get the details changed. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for any other suspicious activity and make sure you shread all documents with details such as account numbers on them fully before you throw them out. Even if you think there isn't enough information on them do it. You'd be amazed at the number of people who think they're taking adequate precautions when they're trash/recycling is a gold mine for fraudsters.

Lili, ask your bank to put a soft hold on your account. They have to contact you to verify each transaction. If they do a hard hold, your account will be basically frozen until you remove it. Ask that any attached cards be hotcarded, not just closed.

I had one before, some guy tried to go shopping with my debit card. He was pretty easy to track though, when I called the companies he tried to shop at. But from what I've read, whenever people have this wmv*match.com charge show up on their statement, and they call match.com, they say they have no record of any charges. I tried calling the phone number on the charge record, and got an error message, so the company doing this is obviously bogus. But I do still think I could have a keylogger, I only use that card online.
