Using "Rock" for the Wrong Genre

It has always bothered me when a hip-hop or pop artist goes "Are you ready to rock?!?" when they don't do rock music. That phrase only works for Rock and its subgenres such as metal, hard rock, punk, etc.

What do you guys think?
