Any business owner can union proof their business in a couple simple steps.

Step 1 - Fire all of your employees. Every single one of them. No employees, no union.

Step 2 - Obviously you would still need workers, so go to the nearest staffing company and hire workers. With these employees it will be easier to get rid of them, and since they work for the staffing firm you can get rid of them at will.

Your company is now union proof. If the staffing firm unionizes, find a new one. Simple.

Isn't that what they have been doing?

I have to agree with unions in some areas of work. Construction, for one, needs unions. Prison Guards, need unions. Nurses, really anything Medical *maybe not doctors* need unions.

Where unions need to get the hell out of....
The food and retail industries.... especially where it's mostly minimum wage employees. It cost more to pay into union fees on minimum wage than you make up in benefits.

That's brilliant.

You're what, again? A janitor, or something to that effect?

I'm sure that won't last long, though. You have such a great handle on how to run a business it won't be long before you're a CEO somewhere.

By the way, do you have a recommendation for a staffing firm that can supply 40,000 skilled auto assemblers and manufacturing engineers?

In about a year there won't be a need for that many in the auto industry.

Oh, so the answer for these businesses would have been to simply shut down.

More great advice for the people who run a business. Just quit!

Yup. Better than being reduced to pan handlers.

But your "fire all your employees" advice is your answer for the business to solve its whole pesky union problem.

For small business owners.

The rest will have to go belly up after they're unionized.

So you think it would be effective for a small business to have its entire workforce consist essentially entirely of temps managed by an external agency.

And you also think that small businesses have a problem with their employees attempting to unionize.

I don't see why not.

Of course their quality would be lower, but it's better than being blackmailed by a union.

Because small businesses don't have workers trying to unionize on them.... and a small business can't afford to outsource its staffing to another corporation that wants to charge 30% overhead. And a small business can't afford a high staff turnover rate because training and acclimation are expensive and take a long time, which is most critical in small businesses.

I worked for a smallbusiness that was unionized. They were useless for anything, other than collecting their dues.

Was it a retail or food business? If that's the case, then yes, you are right, the union is about useless. A small time restraunt with a union is basically a dues hole. The factories, where there is a cause for employee protection are much more important to the union, and the union does more for them, understandably.

As far as all small businesses, that's not very true at all. Local construction unions are great for small construction companies, and, in many cases, have been there for the owners of the small businesses also.

The added fees by the staffing agency would make this a hell of a lot more expensive than simply negotiating with a union
