Recently the UK government has apeared to have realised how unpopular it is, so suddenly it's taken a huge reactionary step towards the populist right.

Anything that seems to be complained about in pubs is suddenly being pounced upon by the government in a lame attempt to try and get some votes.

Why can't they just realise that they've been too right wing this whole time, and try and make some proper Labour policies. Their going out anyway, might as well make the most of it, instead of these panicky right-wing initiatives that haven't been thought through and cannot realistically be implimented.

Don't think people want the policies their putting out at the moment either. Their reactionary and stupid, their on the way out, why not actually do something they believe in?

englands cities are becoming ghettos thanks to years of thatcherism from labour and the tories and now the government is coming up with stupid policies which fail to rectify the underlying social policies

They haven't done that for the last ten years, why should they start now. And the public don't want these right-wing policies. We may be SNP up here now, but were still left-wing, their practically handing Scotland to independence, and where would Labour be without Scotland? As unelectable as the Lib Dems.

The policies going through are really really unpopular up here and are polorising support further. I'm a member of the labour party, but with almost every second policy at the moment I'm cringing thinking 'oh, theres another vote for the SNP'

The government has always done that, they try to do what they think is best, then come voting time, they try to do what the majority wants.
It will never change, party policy goes out the window when it comes to pleasing the masses.

its very hard to remain in touch with the public once as a politican you see the baubels of office. For getting into parliament to start with you are getting an astronomically high salary compared to the average, and thats just a back bencher. You're representing the people in your electorate.

Now if you live in a place like Bolton up in the north and you are in parliament in London you're a hell of a long way away from the people you are representing. So over that distance you aren't around the streets as often seeing what is actually going on and over time you lose touch.

No one party is right though. There are policies that are good and some that are bad. And you know a desperate government when you see one. We have one in New Zealand right now. They will do anything to stay in power, and suddenly this year in our budget this surplus they were sitting on, they finally decide to spend it. Its weird. Every 3 years is the pay year, every other year they are tight. It coincides with election year and thats very very weird.

Every government has its time.

maybe if the w**kers in government now stopped bowing down to everything brussels wants and actually gave us what the people here want and need then they might find themselves a tad more popular and us being more happy to have them in

I think the government has been panicking over knife crime and alcohol abuse of late. They are getting stricter with both, with very little evidence showing these new policies will help in the least.

They're terrified at the poll results. They want to ape the Conservative party in an attempt to appeal to the vast right-wing majority of voters.

Bah, their going out they might as well put forward a few labour type policies, save Scotland from the nationalists.
