I think there's a 95% chance he will be found guilty but of a lesser charge. It fit's the narrative.

100% chance that the GOP senators will vote him "not guilty".

I don't think there is a "Lesser Charge" option in an impeachment trial.

And like I said before it doesn't matter who or what the defense lawyers say, too many GOPers are afraid to cross the line

Where to put this one...

Trump's attorney, Castor, said:

"The people are smart enough ... to pick a new administration if they don't like the old one. And they just did....The people get tired of an administration they don't want. And they know how to change it. And they just did."

So there was not election fraud after all...

Trump didn't win the first one by popular vote either.

Correct, but in our system a presidential candidate does not have to "win" the popular vote.

2016: Trump won the EC vote, but did not have the majority popular vote.

2020: Trump lost the EC vote, and also did not have the majority popular vote.

Our EC system sometimes helps Republicans regardless of the popular vote.

It sometimes goes against Democrats, regardless of the popular vote.

Here's an article that may make you question the value, validity and susceptibility to fraud of the electoral college

It's not fraud if that is how the system is designed to work.

There are reasons to consider whether or not the system still works, but Trump's election pretty much proves it works the way it was intended to. That was the way it was designed to work.

At this point any changes would most likely require constitutional amendments. Frankly, I just don't see the country agreeing enough right now to do that. We haven't hit our tipping point.

Considering the past year, I'm not certain I want to see the tipping point, as I suspect it will not be rainbows and unicorn farts.

Political power will change hands, and that scares the f*** out of a lot of people, so it will be ugly. That's the way it has always been, that is the way it always will be. Expecting anything different would be crazy.

I didn't say it was fraud, I said it was "susceptible to fraud."

Basically when T was elected (2016) 80,000 people in three voting districts are what gave him the electoral votes to win ( Washington Post ). A similar thing happened in 2000 in Florida I believe. If someone good at math could figure that out, say write an algorithm to know which ones, they could have been hacked. Researchers say ( Endgadget ) voting machines are very easy to hack. These researchers bought voting machines and hacked every one of them. The other problem is, though voting systems are not supposed to be connected to the internet, they are ( NBC News ). This means they could be hacked without needing someone at the voting district location.

The Electoral College is an outdated system that is susceptible to fraud and should be abandoned. Here's a Blog on the topic.

but if your argument is based on being able to hack then all elections are susceptible to fraud and there is nothing special about the electoral college.

someone good at math with a vulnerable machine can "hack" any election.

Shady s*** goes on at the state level too, there is an issue with the elections, and trust. There are also questions about the EC being antiquated. The two are not the same issues though.

The problems with the elections would not be "fixed" by removing the EC. its like replacing the toilet when the septic tank is full. You're still going to have a problem in the bathroom.

It's far more logical and realistic that Florida is just a f***ing s*** show than they were "hacked".

Florida has been politically (and socially) a s*** show for years.

you can get rid of the EC. Florida is still going to be a s*** show. That is its nature.

As a Floridian, this

Florida just has its head up its collective asses.

There is no indication so substantial voter fraud. A very few instance of voter fraud have been quickly found out, investigated and resolved (as in the perp getting prosecuted). There is, however, no indication of enough voter fraud in a Florida election to impact the results of the election.

On the other hand, contrary to anything you will find in the news or on Wikipedia, some counties in Florida never got their final count in relative to the 2012 election. They f***ed the thing up so bad that they just threw their hand in the air and said, "well it won't change the outcome, so let's just certify the results to be done with it."

PS

Crying about the EC is a waste of time.

There is literally no chance that a Constitutional Amendment getting rid of the EC will happen.

Maybe in 50 years... but not now.... perseverating about it is meaningless... we'll have a dictator before the EC goes away.
