@Leon Said
I doubt the Kurds would align with Iran, as the former is Sunni and the latter is Shiite.
I'm not sure the Sunni vs Shiite thing make much of a difference in this situation.
> Assad/Syria (Alawite not Shiite) and Iran are military allies.
> Iran and Russia are military allies.
> It seems that Assad/Syria and the Syrian Kurds are now military allies.
> This essentially makes the Syrian Kurds military allies with Russia.
> For the Syrian Kurds to become military allies with Iran is not that far of a stretch.

Now, it is true the Syrian Kurds are leftist leaning, while the Iraqi Kurds are democracy leaning, and true that they (historically) have not always seen eye to eye on a variety of issues.
None the less, it isn't hard to imagine the USA
F__king the Iraqi Kurds (hey, it is our geopolitical pattern). This could easily push the Syrian Kurds & Iraqi Kurds together. If that happened (and I think it merely a matter of time) the "united" Kurds would essentially be military allies with Syria, Russia and (defacto) Iran.
If the Kurds united (and I fully admit that is not yet on the table) in hopes of building a country (not altogether unlike what happened in Eastern Europe after the fall of the USSR), it is quite likely that in spite of religious differences the Assad/Syria, Russia, Iran and this "unified" Kurdistan would in fact become military allies to counter USA-Saudi influence in the Middle East.
(Sorry... I kind of repeated that last point.. )
Anyway, Russia & Iran both want to counter USA-Saudi influence, both are smart enough to not be overly picky about their military allies.
Of course Russia isn't any more trust worthy than the USA when it comes to using and then screwing other countries. But a military alliance of Russia-Assad/Syria-Iran-
Kurdistan is probably exactly what Putin would love to form, however loosely.
I wouldn't bet my lunch money either for or against a loose alliance that involve the Kurds and Iran... stranger things have happened in the world of geopolitical/military alliances in the modern history of the world.
