That would be warping only perception of space-time.

The only way anyone is ever going back or forward in time is if this life is a virtual game stored on disc in which they can drop in/out at certain intervals once reaching an external and more genuine existence

Or the settings we find ourselves in happen to be very small Disney dioramas from which we can unplug from; abandoning our limited robots in those presentations and re-enter into another automaton being staged and presented in a diorama taking place further ahead or farther back in our time line.

It looks like a combination of electromagnetic broadcasts and robo-mechanics
Not that I personally know but as far as I can guesstimate using backwards engineering.

Also I take baby steps; only concerned with one dimension in front of and beyond me - not trying too hard to figure out who is responsible for that dimension or its purpose but from this distance I would guess it was intended as an insulting punishment and the purpose for this one to try and either keep the stupidity there under some manageable control or uncover an exit.
