I see my bumper sticker thread was locked, but not because of the content but some behind the scenes strife???
First, I think it was instructive, and I expected the spam since I'd pretty much invited it. I think for the most part, the anti-Obama/Dem stuff was much more clever. What the left lacked in quality it made up for with quantity. It doesn't matter that that's my opinion (I'm sure the other side will say the opposite), what matters is what the independents thought, and I think overwhelmingly, they are coming over to the right, and this reinforces it. Again, that's my opinion, but if the election were held today, it'd be a whopper walkaway landslide for whatever ham sandwich was running against Obama, thanks to the buyers remorse of the independents--which we saw a preview of in 2010.
I understand there were some objections to what appeared to be greater numbers of posts by one side than the other. I don't know at what point this happened, or any of the particulars, but that's the nature of the beast here, and as I said, quantity is not an indication of quality. It's the perception of the ones open to influence that counts.
Yeah, I know bumper stickers aren't the proving ground for a well developed sense of humor, but it's still one place to put it on display, and in this and other areas for its display, the Dems are way short. Back in the day, they were the kings of comedy, and the Republicans were the humorless McCarthyites, but not any more. I guess oligarchies and humor just don't mix, which when you think about it, makes sense. It also makes sense that Obama has a pathetic/non-existent sense of humor, but he's a perfect target for it. I predict that if a Republican candidate figures that out, and how to exploit it, he/she will win the nomination and the White House. It could be nothing more than one or two well placed zingers. Meanwhile, maybe there's more to bumper stickers than we thought.
How's that "Hope" & "Change" workin' out for ya?
