Have you introduced computers & other types of modern technology to your parents/grandparents? How did they do with it?

My grandmother is 88 and she kinda knows how to operate a computer. We started her a few years back with some email station. It didn't do anything but send email, and wasn't a computer, but this little black machine. I don't know how to describe it

Anyway, we got her a computer a couple of years ago and she uses it for e-mail and she can kinda browse the web. If someone gives her a website she can go to it and find her way around pretty easily, but I doubt she understands google or anything like that. Normally when she wants to know about something she'll just take the name, tack a ".com" at the end of it, and type it into the navigation bar.

When I first introduced her to instant messaging she was shocked. It was really cute She can keep in touch with my brother that way. I showed her how to message him, and she did, and then she sits back like she's gonna be waiting for ages, and then he messages back and she's all like, "Wow he answered back already?!"

Yeah my grandmother will send me a million chain letters all saying the same thing

She'll also sign off each instant message with "Nana"

I tried to explain to her it's more of a conversation than a letter, but she still does it. Oh well

good to know it's not just my parents

but really, they seem to think every channel has somthing on it... so when they yell at me to help, the TV's usually on its loudest setting with static

Is there anyway you can make the parental controls prevent them from visiting those channels?

I usually hear "oooh no what have we done!" then 5 seconds later im called into the room and then i fix the tv and then 2 seconds later they do it again, and once they were looking for the remote and then i found it outside on the street... and i was like... ok is this a prank or something...?

we have a program that we use at work for making work orders. when you double click the desktop icon, it automatically opens up in the taskbar and not on the screen. this old engineer i work with doesn't realize that. he just keeps clicking until he gets mad and leaves! i can always tell when he's been on the computer because, there'll be a ton of tabs on the taskbar waiting to be opened.

My dad tried to use my mouse once and he thought the scroll button in the middle was what you had to click on to open thing. I thought he was gonna break my mouse with how frustrated he was getting
