Earlier this morning on my way home from work I needed to stay awake after a long night and so I popped in Metallica's Kill Em All into the CD player. It dawned on me that while I really do enjoy a very diverse mix of music, there are only a few full albums out that I like in their entirety. Normally there's at least two or three songs on an album that, no matter how much I like the artist or band in particular, I just don't like very much.

The few albums I have found I've enjoyed pretty much for every track that come to mind:

Kill Em All - Metallica
L.A. Woman - The Doors
Presidents of the United States - Presidents of the United States
Bookends - Simon & Garfunkle
Walkin' to New Orleans - Fats Domino
Pretty Hate Machine - Nine Inch Nails
Sing Loud, Sing Proud - Dropkick Murphys
Tromp Le Monde - The Pixies
Earth Sun Moon - Love and Rockets
Firstborn is Dead - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

More I'm forgetting.

How about you?

Me a couple other people were talking about Bat Out of Hell a little while ago on here... I ran to my record shelves, grabbed it, and snapped a picture:

Great album...great artwork!

The Motherf***in' CARS!

Forgot about them. I recently got to hear their brand new full length Move Like This and I was impressed at how they still sound. Ric Ocasek's voice is as clear as it was in 1978.

Yeah, I listened to that the week it came out (for some reason I have a free lifetime membership to Rhapsody - shhhh, don't tell anybody lol). And I agree, it could easily pass for an album of theirs during their heyday. That cannot be said for many bands who come out of retirement like that.

I had "Becoming X" by the Sneaker Pimps in my home CD player running 24/7 for 6 months straight. I just could not get enough of Keli Dalton's hypnotic voice.

That's EXACTLY the thought I had when I listened to it. And the other thing is that sounding like you did thirty some-odd years ago isn't always something a band would even want, but with The Cars it's more of a case of not messing with a good thing in my opinion.

Great topic by the way. In my opinion this should be the number one criteria for one's favorite album.

To me, there are several that come close, but are stuck with that two or three "filler" songs that basically suck, cutting them off my list....

Smiths - Strangeways Here We Come
REM - Murmur
Black Flag - Damaged
Pogues - Red Roses For Me
Delerium - Karma
Pogues - Rum, Sodomy, & the Lash
New Order - Waiting for the Sirens Call
New Order - Technique
Clash's debut album
Rocket From the Crypt - Group Sounds
Ramones' debut album

Off the top of my head...

Toad the Wet Sprocket - Fear
Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill
Queen - The Game
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Michael Jackson - Thriller
King Diamond - Them
Puddle of Mudd - Come Clean
Audioslave - Self titled I think....
