The circle of the earth

As the mountain range of Everest is the Himalayas, so the circle of the earth is the universe.

Isaiah 40:22

22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

What I love about that scripture is
1. The document (Isaiah) is at least two thousand years old(as corroborated by the Dead Sea scrolls), possibly three and a half thousand.
Best historical document comfirmation on the planet.

2. "The circle of the Earth"
Handy for settling all those 'Bible says the world is flat' claims.

We don't actually know definitively what shape the universe is.

I think it (the generally accurate description)indicates that the patriarchs in the old testament had knowledge of the universe that wasn't neccesarily as unimformed as we in this age might have been led to beleive.

31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

I am inclined to agree with you as I remember once reading that people didn't generally think the earth was flat around that time.
