The Stimulus Package

When it Passes,The deficit in the United States Doubles.
Is this going in the right direction?
Also,what does health care and other things have to do with getting more jobs.
Why are all these things added into this package?
What is your opinion?

I think the general idea of it is correct, but most of these jobs look like they will be just temporary (such as the reorganzing of the health care record system and modernizing schools, which worries me. The people with these jobs are not going to be spending their money away when they know that their jobs are not going to last. Instead, they're going to save up. I think in order for this stimilus package to work, more permanent jobs need to be created.

I really just want to bury my head in the sand.

The 'crats finally gained control and now are power mad. They are desperate to turn the USA into a europe-like country. I see the day when Americans may need "travel permits" to go from one end of the USA to another.

Actually, I'm not all that pleased with this stimulus plan because it's just a "quick" version of what the republicants have been pushing through over the last 8 years..

Though some economists are saying that because it's quick, it might work better than the sneaky way the cants tripled the deficit.

As for the "travel permits" you speak of.. you're just making stuff up now to try and get a rise out of people. That's the way the cants work.. if you don't have a good reason to not like something, make people afraid of it instead.

I have the distinct feeling nothing is going to work,and a deppression is right around the corner! The cants had to dump money on wall street before bush left office,and what did wall street do with all that money? They bought toys and vacations! So don't tell us that giving tax breaks to the rich will solve the problem! No one believes that HOOEY any more!

I am worried already about the direction our country is going now. The campaign slogan was "change", Is rising our deficit a change,To double it in a few months?

I don't think anyone has a clear difinitive answer as how to fix this current econmic crisis

To rescue Wall Street and the Banks, the repubs tried Tarp#1, and it didn't go so well because the ground rules weren't spelled out so the banks that used the money used it for a wide variety of things, none of which helped the common borrower

The dems have come up with their own quicky stimulus package that they hope to cover a wide variety of areas, again, not really sure of the outcome, so they figure throwing money into the mix might help things

I really don't know how throwing money at the economy will help solve the problem

Don't worry about the deficit,you won't have to pay more taxes if you can't find a job!

Putting money into the pockets of the working class will help by allowing them to purchase more consumer goods! Creating public service jobs repairing and rebuilding infrastructure. Will aid all of us!

I read or heard somewhere that the stimulus package is enough to pay off something like 90% of all the mortgages in the US...that would help the people and the banks would get the money...

Then with all the mortgages paid off, we could buy cars and spend money which would stimulate the economy...

They would rather give the money to Wall Street...ok they can't have salaries over $500,000...Boo Hoo poor babies...how will they ever survive on just $500,000?

Give me $500,000 and I could do so much...hell with $100,000 I could pay off my house and both cars and still have money left over.

The whole thing pisses me off!

I keep hearing that....creating service jobs rebuilding infrastructure. These jobs, are they long term? Or will they work on say a bridge project or dam and then end? Are those specialists not already employed by the Army Corps of Engineers?

People have bills to pay to keep there homes.also have to feed there families,Not many will money knowing when that is gone,Things will be the same. Jobs will still be lost.They need to pay there house payments and rent.
If I get it,I will use it on bills

Because it's not a stimulus bill, it's a spending bill.

I am using my spending money for emergencies, I wont be spending it.
If I need money for my car, even tires,I cant afford to buy a new car and pay the insurance on one.
Also if anything else comes up. I will have that money to take care of it.
