These two punk classics brought Punk music into the mainstream. They have many similarities and many differences and both are great bands. But which do you like better?

Well, they're both punk bands that were popular in bits of the 1970s and 1980s and both are considered the best in the punk genre (usually.)

For me there's no competition, its got to be The Clash. In general though, I just prefer the stuff that came out of the British punk scene over the American stuff, probably because it just feels more culturally relevant to me as an individual.
None of this is to say I don't like The Ramones, but I really love The Clash.

The Clash is my favorite band of all time, but they, among others like the Sex Pistols, ultimately, and have confirmed so in later interviews, owe it to the Ramones for providing the initial influence. However, while the Ramones started punk, it might be safe to say that the Clash were the first band to extensively merge politics with punk.

Either way, both were great bands and very influential. I have extensive playlists from both on my devices

This is another reason The Clash to have the bigger space in my heart. I doubt it would ever have occurred to me to pay attention to politics in my teens if it hadn't been for politically motivated music.

Well, the Clash is the only band that matters.

In terms of political punk or just all music ever?

That was how they were referred to in the Rolling Stone magazine.

They both had a drummer.

That part is debatable.

I didn't necessarily say skilled, good, bad, or anything. But they still have them.

I wanted to say The Ramones. But I had to say The Clash. Granted I'm not a huge fan of punk but I still can appreciate both of these bands. I think The Ramones don't get enough credit in a lot of ways. I also think The Clash is a bit over rated in some ways.

Ramones - I could associate more with their sense of humor.
