With about a day before the Olympics are about to start, I figured we'd need a place to list the medal count by country.. we can feel free to update it daily, or more often if we choose..

Please list in this order

"#Total" "Country" "#Gold" "#Silver" "#Bronze"

And lets try to keep it listed with the country that has the highest total to on top and work our way down.

Enjoy the competition.

Expect China too be on top as far as Gold go but reckon the US might win the overall medal count. Not too many events either country will be weak in.

The medal table should be constantly updated on the official London 2012 website, so that should keep everybody informed.

Now, that would be cheating. You'll be telling us next that we'd put the table in total number of medals order instead of Gold-silver-bronze order if it suited us.

Now, who would do such a thing..?

I heard somewhere us Brits would be trying to get 8 medals and at least 1 was to be Gold. High expectations indeed.

Now, that would be cheating. You'll be telling us next that we'd put the table in total number of medals order instead of Gold-silver-bronze order if it suited us.

Now, who would do such a thing..?

I'm guessing that it would be the sort of person who believes that the Olympics are about the competition and excellence, and about celebrating all of the best athletes in a sport, rather than the sort of person who only cares about who's #1.

I would think that the sort of person who puts competition and excellence above winning is precisely the sort of person who wouldn't care who finishes top of the medal table.

Now, can we think of anybody who, at any recent Olympics conspicuously and shamelessly fiddled the medal table to put themselves at the top when another country had more gold medals than they did..?

Answers awaited with interest.
