Tonight was able to watch the Ulster GAA Football Senior Championship 2014 Preliminary Round clash btw Tyrone and Down. The first half was a little scrappy, a little flat but the 2nd half was good craic with the match ending in a draw.

Really looking forward to Derry taking on Donegal next week.

As an outsider i reckon that a goal should be worth more than 3 pts (at least 4 pts if not 5). Afterall, they are generally pretty hard to get and the ratio of goals scored when compared to overs suggests to me that goals are under valued.

Watched a cracking game of hurling (esp the 2nd half) btw Limerick and Tipperary. So happy these games are now being televised down under.

Hurling ...?
Does that come shortly after the Hot Dog and Pie Eating contests?

Not a great start for either Dún na nGall or Doire in the Roinn 1 which is disappointing.

Shame about the semi final results. Wouldn't have minded a Tyrone v Mayo final.

Unfortunately the dubs won yet again...that's 4 in a row and 5 in the past 6 years. Bugger.

Is there anyone else in this forum who knows what hurling is?

And yet here we are in a thread that talks about matchups and results as if they are items of household knowledge.

Football (both kinds) may work with this kind of thing because literally millions follow them, but hurling?

The only thing I know about hurling is that it rhymes with curling. Which, interestingly enough, has another thing in common in that it is another sport I know absolutely nothing about.

I mean no disrespect to the OP in this, and have zero issues with this thread existing or continuing, so, PLEASE, by all means, carry on bro. I just find it humorous and strangely interesting. Not just for the content, but for the poster himself. I mean, who finds the time these days to regularly study and write long discourses on a 100 year old war and watch follow all these obscure sports on a daily basis. All I can say is I’d be surprised if he has a family. Heck, I just have one kid and my wife and I find very little time for each other, let alone such intensive endeavors with an intention of talking to myself on a forum about it.
