Want to tell you of how last weekend I heard of a great event
There was an arrival at a home to which I?d like to comment
A budgie, you see had got free from across the road and cement
In destination of freedom and safety to this home he was bent
On reaching it would maybe mean a new home and more vent
Perhaps he never thought of what the name Sheba even meant
As he flittered and fluttered without ever giving a compliment.
I wasn?t there to know if there were any screams or shouts
As his wings spanned amidst his artistic and acrobatic flights
Am sure he would wonder at his new found freedom and sights
Before it became dusk with the need for more lights
The excitement I?m sure was as great for him as the blitz
For maybe he wished he could even do the splits
Before he was captured and closed inside the slits.
The story was told me then after all the drama was ended
Of how his master has lovingly nurtured and catered
To all of his needs and others of the family also gathered
Inside wire cage inside and outside of garage altered
To be a comfortable aviary which was fully completed
With nest box and food and a resting perch supplied
To rest on when wearied from flight until each retired.
Oh, how soon all the setting changed so differently
For dear Budgie was returned to his home very kindly
He was there united with all the rest of the menagerie
As babies and all were inspected so gentle and tenderly
I hope when a few more weeks have past eventually
There may be a similar cage built at 51 more permanently
For to house one of the babies given and accepted graciously.
Now the moral of this poem and the reason it?s penned really
Is not to seek glory but am sharing some thoughts dearly
For to say how such deep love doth always glow clearly
When a true loving hand doth meet each need so gladly
We?ve all got a Keeper whose watching us lovingly and dearly
Ever guarding us safely as we tread the way more bravely
To help us travel on and finish the journey courageously.
May 1st 2009.
