Ten pence (British coin)

Yesterday my husband found a coin in an old 1968 work truck that he is working on . It is a 1969 coin with Elizabeth II on one side and a crowned lion on the other. Pretty cool , we see some Canadian coins here and Mexican coins are pretty common . But this is the first British coin I have seen .

The original reverse of the coin, designed by Christopher Ironside, is a crowned lion (formally, Part of the crest of England, a lion passant guardant royally crowned), with the numeral "10" below the lion, and either NEW PENCE (1968?1981)

I dont have any new ones, just old ones.

The one hubby found looks pretty beat up , so is worth 2 shillings from what I can find .All I know about the difference between American money and English money is 25 pounds comes out to 49 dollars and change, I thought I was getting a real bargain one time when I bought something for 25 pounds ,thinking it was the same as 25 dollars. It was well worth the $49 and change ,just not the bargain I thought I had gotten,,
Anyone one know how much in American money 2 shillings are?

Actually with the current exchange rate, 25 pounds = $38.83 a better deal still

I thought Shillings and all that were pre-decimal or something. I have no idea.

It is, but given that shillings disappeared when I was about 7, the younger generation have no idea what were talking about. My eldest is almost 23 and laughs at me when I mention pound notes and vinyl records how things change.
