Young people and educated people overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
Without looking for a demographic study, I'd say:
Young people yes. I was a Democrat sympathizer/voter until Reagan's second term. I never looked back. Older people, R.
Formally educated, yes, D. as well, given the government's influence on it. (Didn't used to be that way). More intelligent, R. Intelligence and formal education are only casually related. People tend to migrate to the right as they deprogram from their indoctrination.
Blind faith in religion, R. Blind faith in government, D--something I've been hawking for a long time.
More independent, freedom loving, libertarian, R. More group oriented and regulated, fascist
big D. Neither side really likes communism, "I want to keep what's mine" is too well ingrained in the human psyche. Strange that the socialists still believe that, while at the same time have no qualms with "taking what's yours"--up to some flexible, unspecified, whatever-works-best-for-me-at-the-moment limit.
But here's the biggie, Integrity, R. Corruption (modern) D. It's ok if the moderator cheats in a debate as long as it helps their candidate. And it's OK for the mod to pick the questions! It's huge with them. How do you suppose all four mods chosen are libs? It's another quality of Obama that's been exposed to the voting population of late, and it's costing him with the Independents.

I Voted for Obama he is the lesser of two evils
You're obviously too young to understand the nature of evil. Thy eyes will be opened eventually.
