Look out for this combined Virus/Scam. Its the latest version of a Virus begun in 2007, originating in Russia.

It is apparently doing the rounds in a big way and can be picked up easily, from Web Sites such as MySpace. The very first sign appears to be a dialogue box popping up in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop, just as they normally do when. It will say something like "A virus has been detected. Activate your anti-virus software now."

DO NOT SEEK TO "ACTIVATE" BY CLICKING THE BOX!!!!!

Just ignore.

Any attempt to "answer" it will lead to the virus being loaded and subsequently telling you you have multiple infections and the only way to get rid of them is to supply your Credit Card details to purchase "System Tools 2011". The scam is obviously to get your CC details, but it IS a virus also and will take over more and more of your PC system the longer it remains, de-activating ALL security systems, and replacing your own desktop with its own "WARNING SIGN", very gaudy colours and very badly written!

Although this did not work for me, if the virus gets in, try activating your own security system within the first few seconds of your desktop appearing during log on, this then stops the virus itself loading. Then do a scan with your own Anti-Virus system to get rid of it.

Otherwise, try a "SYSTEM RESTORE" in safe mode.
