Prayer is when one talks to God; meditation is when one listens.

The following points out that it is a sound practice;

There was another very large scale study done on hospital patients not to long ago. It involved around some 16k patients. It had several groups.

1. Patients who where unaware of the study, and used as a controll group. No prayer involved.

2. Those who where prayed for, and did not know it.

3. Those who where prayed for, and knew it.

4. Those who where not prayed for, and where told they where.

What they found was rather interesting. In groups that where not prayed for, the rate of complications was around 8%. In the groups that where prayed for, or otherwise thought they where, had a complication rate of around 26%.

Tell me that prayer heals now.

Although I trust that the linked article will address your last statement; I would inquire;

If you would be so kind as to cite the particular study by name, I would really love to see it.

I am equally curious as to whether or not any study has been done on the benefits/risks of prayer or meditation for the practitioner versus those who do not engage in such practices. (I am aware that the Marx considered religion "the opium of the people"; and as such it was relentlessly persecuted.)

I would also be interested in any study on the simple power of belief. (I have read a book entitled "The Magic Of Believing" and that is why I ask.)

bahaha this supports my view that prayer is useless, and now I can say that it's even harmful.
