A COMMON parasite found in cats may have a fearful and uncommon effect: Spurring its human hosts towards suicide.
A study published in the August issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has found people infected with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite are more than seven times more likely to attempt suicide.
Lena Brundin, associate professor of experimental psychiatry at Michigan State University, says her research has shown the parasite can cause inflammation which, in turn, produces metabolites that damage the brain.
"In our study we found that if you are positive for the parasite, you are seven times more likely to attempt suicide."

That doesn't mean it's your cat's fault, it's not like the cat is making you put a gun to your head. More like giving you enough rope to potentially hang yourself, you still have to take the conscious action to do it.

Pets can actually help with mental illness like depression funnily enough, raises serotonin levels.

Perhaps keeping your cat healthy and parasite free would be a good step here.

Comes from cap poop. I heard about this awhile back. I generates insanity and depression and those two are what lead the host to giving up their life because it's no longer comfortable to try and live it anymore.

Hopefully people don't start believing that. Don't want a mass-murder of cats like they did with pigs during the swine flu crap.

Right on target here. Here's another silly study that some people who believe ALL study results are fact will take it as a duty to slaughter all cats for fear.

Yeah, I don't think that pooping ball caps would sell very well.
