She adopted the skinhead because she was sick of tabloid press asking her to make a sexy pose or dress a certain way so she went the anti. She objected to being "meat" just because she is a singer.
There was a singer called Jennifer Rush who was horrified by the british tabloid press who constantly yelled at her to "lift her skirt a bit" or "open her blouse" for papparazi photos. They turned on her and she never really had much more success in the UK after that.
So its surprising that Sinead still gets a fair amount of coverage. Its mostly her mad antics though, not because she is a good singer.
Was Jennifer Rush the one who did Power of Love?
